What is pressotherapy?
Pressotherapy is a procedure that helps with lymphatic drainage, eases aches and pains, and detoxifies the body. It uses an air pressure machine to inflate cuffs that squeeze your arms, legs or abdomen in a rhythmic motion, similar to a massage.
Pressotherapy can help with cellulite elimination, fat loss, swollen legs, tired muscles and weight loss; it can also release fluid in the lymph nodes which may build up after surgery or after certain cancer treatments.
I use the AROSHA LX9, which is a high class portable device.

Pressotherapy - Recommendations
Pressotherapy is recommended for:
- lymphatic and venous edema
- postoperative oedema (eg after mastectomy)
- post-traumatic edema
- cellulite
- obesity
- chronic muscular neuralgia
- neurological diseases (eg limb paralysis)
- postnatal period
- stimulating blood and lymph backflow
- water retention – especially for people with ‘tired legs effect
- improving skin nutrition and elasticity
- preventing thrombosis for bed-ridden people.
Pressotherapy - Contra-indications
People with the following conditions should refrain from having pressotherapy:
- heart conditions, circulatory problems, haematological diseases and tendencies for haemorrhages
- pacemaker or metal prosthesis
- epilepsy and psychosomatic disorders
- cancer
- endocrine diseases
- respirators, liver or kidney failure
- active viral, bacterial or fungal infections
